"Difficult reading" is a series of photographs of the most iconic independent publications and busiest in the last years in the country.

What is this project about?

In recent years interest is that my artwork will become a communication platform and expansion of specific events and the main contradictions and socio-cultural forces in those areas of Cuban society that are not apparent, few transparent or hidden. Work resulting file such "social invisibilities".

The project that I present in this case arises from a long research I developed in 2009 on independent publications in Cuba, which since 1965 have suffered from censorship and persecution by the Cuban authorities. This has led to such activity since then has been developed within the margins of the "illegal politics" until today. The "difficult reading" proposes a series of photographs of the most iconic independent publications and busiest in the last years in the country, which have had a circulation of illegal, clandestine, making visibility and knowledge is null. Not exist. The photographs recreate each publication in environments completely intimate, dark, indefinite, sometimes solitary, anonymous environment to achieve that, uncertain and usually ignored circulate, read and discussed within Cuban society.

The photographs will function as paper documents, files of micro-truths that remain invisible, but circulate in our society.

Why am I seeking financial support for this project?

Financial support will give me the options to print all 9 photos integrated installation, you will have a format of 110 x 85 cm each, and the cost of installation, which will give completion to the project that I present here.
